Tamara L. Dixon, D.D.S. Oral Health and Wellness, Inglewood Dentist
Tamara L. Dixon, D.D.S. is a cosmetic and wellness dentist and has been in private practice in the Los Angeles area since 1994. She is known for using the highest standard of care and the most current techniques in delivering esthetic dentistry to her patients. She specializes in oral systemic health, dental cosmetic procedures, orthodontics and orthopedics in adults and children. She provides advanced antimicrobial periodontal treatment with an emphasis on improving overall systemic health.

Dr. Dixon attained a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California before attending dental school at UCSF where she received a Doctorate in Dental Surgery as well as a Bachelor’s in Dental Science. She has taken extensive continuing education courses in Orthodontics, Orthopedics, TMJ treatment, Dental Cosmetics, Dental Implant Restorations, Periodontics and Sleep Apnea. Dr. Dixon took a sabbatical from private practice for two years (2011-2013) to do dental research.

During this time, she traveled full time across the United States as the oral health examiner for the CDC on the NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) epidemiology research team. (The survey provides a snapshot of how healthy the country is and researchers all over the world use the data collected when it is released every two years.)
She also completed the Summer Institute in Clinical Dental Research Methods at the University of Washington in 2012. The Institute is a highly regarded research program that accepts only 30 applicants internationally every year. In 2013, Dr. Dixon completed the Bale/Doneen Method preceptorship for the prevention of heart attacks, ischemic strokes and type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Dixon is able to translate her research into private practice. She uses advanced DNA testing of oral bacteria samples and provides custom antimicrobial treatments to reduce, and often time eliminate, specific bacteria that contribute to systemic diseases such as heart attack, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. She also test heart disease, stroke and diabetes risk markers such as hs-Crp, Lp-PLA2, and HbA1c. Research shows that all of these markers improve with the treatment that Dr. Dixon provides.

Dr. Dixon is a member of various dental societies including the ADA, CDA, and is a charter member of the Appliance Therapy Group, and the American Association for Oral Systemic Health.
